In the autumn of 2025, Sitemax received a long-awaited positive decision and permit from the County Administrative Board for the further expansion of its off-grid mobile networks in parts of the mountain region of Gällivare Municipality. The expansion will proceed southward along the King’s trail from where Sitemax’s current network presently ends near Sälka, continuing toward Teusajaure. Expansion will also take place in areas west of this route toward Sitasjaure.
The areas affected are important for reindeer herding, the tourism industry and outdoor recreation, and have until now completely lacked mobile coverage. From the summer of 2026, this new coverage will contribute to increased safety in these areas.
